The Forge - Personal Training Lab

The Forge is a new, state-of-the-art personal training lab located in the heart of Monaco. Strength, power, resilience and well-being are just a few of the focus points during its one-on-one training and group classes.
THE CHALLENGE
Design and deploy a fully integrated lighting, climate, AV, and security control solution to address the demands of the affluent clientele for comfort, luxury, and entertainment. Important additional requirement: the system needed to be secure, scalable, and ready to integrate new technologies as they emerge in the future.
THE SOLUTION
Project manager Federico Vella of The Forge contacted IntelliCasa during the design phase of the new personal training center. IntelliCasa recommended a full Crestron system to meet the demanding project requirements.
THE TECHNOLOGY
To offer the clientele a personalized experience and maximize motivation, Intellicasa created a highly interactive and customizable setup. The Forge team members and their clients can implement their personal preferences for music and lighting to create the ambient effect that works best for them during a workout. This necessitated a full smart lighting and Crestron Sonnex® multi-room audio solution that could be controlled by individual area or facility wide. They created several different lighting scenes, as an intense boxing class requires a different ambiance than a spiritual yoga session, for example.
The 18 Crestron Saros® pendant ceiling speakers throughout the facility blend perfectly with the interior and deliver pristine sound from five different sources, all managed via a Crestron network streaming media player. Staff and clients can select their own music streaming services at any time in any area of The Forge, without disrupting other patrons who are listening to their own music in another area. The system also supports Apple AirPlay® software for wireless streaming. With integrated HVAC control, the temperature can easily be adjusted to the most comfortable level. Several security aspects are also integrated for peace of mind outside of business hours, including the full intrusion alarm system. All sub-systems are integrated using a Crestron PRO3 control system, with control via smartphone, tablet, and integrated Crestron touch screens and keypads, installed at key locations within the lab. An intuitive, user-friendly graphic interface gives users the same experience no matter which device they use.
RESULTS
What made the Crestron solution stand out for The Forge is how it can seamlessly integrate different subsystems and provide the ability to personalize settings for each client. “Now, our clients can listen to different music in different rooms, from different sources. They can even listen to different music on opposite sides of the room or turn up the volume in only part of the room,” said Federico Vella, Project Manager of The Forge. “The same concept is applied to lighting. Each area can be controlled independently, or all together. Our clients use the interface to control their own area and find it very intuitive to use.”
